MISSION · 使命To empower young people to learn, create and contribute through real-world projects that address meaningful community needs.
We provide real problems, projects, collaboration, professional guidance and outcomes that return to the community—helping young people move from learning to doing.
VISION · 愿景A community where every young person can turn ideas into meaningful action.
Young people should not only prepare for the future. They can help build it.
FOUNDER'S STORYAt first, Frank simply wanted to build the product he truly believed in.
PremiumPets began with a simple intention: bring fragmented pet services, knowledge, commerce and community into one genuinely useful product. Frank could quickly turn ideas into systems, but a complete product requires research, data, design, development, security and operations—more specialties than one person can master at once.
He first tried the traditional route. After roughly four months of outsourced development, PremiumPets could run, yet remained far from the product in his mind. Features still needed work and small changes could wait weeks. The deepest frustration was knowing what he wanted to express without being able to move it there himself.
Across years of exploration, he organized data, checked prices, learned spreadsheets, tried crawling, explained requirements repeatedly and sometimes considered giving up. In late 2025 and early 2026, ChatGPT, Claude and Cursor entered his real workflow. AI made mistakes and required verification, but for the first time he could decompose work, call on different capabilities, inspect the result and keep iterating.
What changed was not only speed. One person could finally return attention to the idea itself.
After PremiumPets came local RAG, the pet encyclopedia knowledge base, AI Control Studio, long-term memory systems, data pipelines and briefing workflows. They look different, yet keep demonstrating the same principle: people can keep the problem, direction and taste, let AI carry unfamiliar execution, then own the result through evidence, judgment and revision.
Youth Maker Society begins here. Frank does not want to hand students a fixed answer. He wants to turn what he discovered into a map and explore with young people a road the AI age has not yet fully defined. Students first learn to complete real work together, then move toward their own interests, problems and creations.
OUR NORTH STARStaying true does not mean refusing to change.
A solution can change, a path can turn and tools will keep evolving. We want students to know, after every change, why they began, whom they care about and what they hope to change.
Intention is not resistance to change. It is still knowing why you began after every change.
EXTERNAL REVIEW · IN DEVELOPMENTWork should face questions from the professional world, not only classroom review.
At milestones and Demo Day, YMS plans to invite engineering, product, design and security professionals from technology companies, including Amazon, to external review. They will examine whether the problem is real, the solution clear, the technology responsible and the student able to explain their judgment.
The review system is being built. Beyond Ray, reviewer names and company details will be published only after confirmation and permission.
Our long-term direction
Build a pipeline of real community problems; let students first learn inside shared projects, then gradually propose their own; and support ready students through a free Fellowship into continued product work.
Fellowship
Fellowship is selective and free. The follow-on Project 001 team is expected to include no more than ten students. Selected students may receive an approximately CAD $300 one-time stipend, released against agreed milestones.
How we build trust
- Planned, in-development, testing and completed work receive clear status labels
- Team history, employers and photos are published with permission
- Student work is published after student/guardian consent and privacy review
- Fees, refunds, IP, scholarships and Fellowship boundaries appear before enrollment
Youth Maker Society is completing BC nonprofit registration. Confirmed naming, governance documents and status will be updated here.
